It’s your decision to join the NHS Organ Donor Register, but it could also affect your family. If something were to happen to you unexpectedly, would those closest to you know what you’d want? Your family are TWICE as likely to say ‘Yes’ to donating your organs, if they know it’s what you would have wanted.
Talk to your family and friends today and tell them that you want to be an organ donor.
Think about those closest to you too, do you know their wishes? Asking them what they would like could be another good way to start the conversation.

It's a good idea to remind them too
Don’t forget to remind those closest to you every year, people are only human, they forget and situations change. If anything happens to you unexpectedly, at least you'll know that you'll have made it easier for your family because you'll have made your wishes clear to them.
Over the last few years, the family authorisation rate has risen from 57.1% to 61.6%. This is great news, but if 80% of families said ‘Yes’ to donation, around 90 more lives could be saved every year.
